Some paintings arrive with quiet whispers.
Smolderdash did not.
He roared into my studio like a comet on a mission - trailing sparks and demanding attention from the very first brushstroke. I began with the idea of a simple dragon portrait - wings, scales, smoke from the nostrils, the usual. But this wasn’t just a dragon.
This was a force of nature.
He stared straight through me, smoldering with intensity, as if to say, “You’re not done until I’m famous.”
So I kept painting.
And he kept showing up.
Smolderdash didn’t just become a painting - he lit the match that became Dragonbeat, my fantasy-inspired art magazine. What began as a portrait became a movement. This creature claimed the cover of Issue #1 and set the tone for everything that followed.
This piece is for anyone who’s ever felt a flicker of something - an idea, a passion, a calling - and couldn’t rest until they gave it wings.
Collector’s Note:
A signature piece in the Dragonbeat series - and the very first dragon to breathe life into this evolving fantasy world. Smolderdash is more than art. He’s the beginning of a legacy.

About the Dragonbeat Series
Each Dragonbeat painting is more than art - it’s a living character. Every brushstroke brings to life a dragon with its own lore, personality, and place in the Breyerwood Sanctum, the fantasy world at the heart of Dragonbeat magazine.
Unlike my other paintings, these creatures don’t stop at the canvas. They step beyond it - becoming cover models, story anchors, and guardians of their own legends. With each piece, you’re not just collecting a painting, you’re adopting a character whose tale continues to grow as the Dragonbeat world unfolds.
That’s why these works hold a unique value. They’re part fine art, part storytelling, and part world-building - originals that exist at the crossroads of painting and myth. Owning one means holding both a piece of art and a piece of lore that will never be repeated.
