"Michael" - Angels Among Us series, No. 1
There are moments in art when the veil thins - when creation becomes more that the act of making and enters the realm of divine communion. Michael is one of those moments.
This painting began as a pull, an insistent whisper from beyond - a longing to paint wings, again and again, without fully understanding why. Through thoughful insight, I realized: the Archangel Michael was making his protective presence known, and I felt his presence through my art.
With this realization, the painting transformed from a mere idea to a spiritual expression. I envisioned Michael as a powerful, otherwordly being - not just a warrior, but a radiant protector. His wings burst with light, his stance unwavering, his sword forged from divine energy itself. This wasn't about traditional religious iconography - it was about presence. About capturing that feeling I couldn't shake, that light I kept seeing when I closed my eyes. The art guided itself from there.
Michael stands above symbolic flames - not just fire, but the essence of evil vanquished, of darkness pushed back by unwavering light. I wanted this piece to be more than a painting. I wanted it to be a beacon. A visual prayer. A reminder that we are not alone, even when we feel the battle within us.
